TEAM RELEASE: Qualifying Results – Mobil 1 Sports Car Grand Prix Presented by Hawk Performance
July 12, 2014 – Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada
Flying Lizard was a few millimeters away from a great qualifying result after Spencer Pumpelly put the No. 45 Venezuela / eSilicon Audi R8 LMS in 2nd place on the GT Daytona grid and Dion von Moltke qualified 5th in the No. 35 PR Newswire / UBM Tech / eSilicon sister car. Unfortunately, the No. 45 was moved to the back of the field after post race tech revealed that the right rocker cover was too low, the result of the car bottoming out on track during the qualifying session. The crew had been through tech three prior times over the course of the weekend, passing each time, but the damage to the rocker was enough to cause the car to run afoul of the regulations. Thus, Seth Neiman will start the No. 35 from 4th place and Nelson Canache Jr. will start the No. 45 from 17th place in the GTD class. The race start is looking to be especially exciting as the weather forecast calls for rain throughout the day tomorrow after the teams have run exclusively in the dry for the practice and qualifying sessions over the past two days.
Flying Lizard will take the race start tomorrow, at 2:05pm ET on Sunday, July 13th. Live timing and scoring for the race can be found at www.imsa.com and on the IMSA mobile app. The race will be televised starting at 2:00pm ET tomorrow on Fox Sports 1 and also available on the Fox Sports Go mobile app. Outside of the United States, the full race broadcast will be available at www.imsa.com.
