TEAM RELEASE: Flying Lizard Brickyard Grand Prix Qualifying Results
July 24, 2014 – Indianapolis, Indiana
Flying Lizard Motorsports had a roller coaster day of practice and qualifying at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, with the No. 35 PR Newswire / UBM Tech / eSilicon Audi R8 LMS suffering a crash during the first practice which meant that it had to start qualifying on the setup of the sister No. 45 Yoddle / Venezuela / eSilicon car. The No. 35 crew worked through the morning to get the car back on track in time for a shakedown during the second practice, with Dion von Moltke turning his first timed laps during the qualifying session itself, which the team used as a setup session. Despite this, Dion was able to qualify the car just 1.2 seconds behind the No. 45 car. Seth Neiman will start the No. 35 in tomorrow’s 2 hour and 45 minute TUDOR United SportsCar Championship race. The No. 45 was towards the top of the charts in both practices, finishing 2nd and 7th in those sessions before Spencer Pumpelly qualified the car in 4th position and was the fastest Audi driver in the GT Daytona class field. Nelson Canache Jr. will start the No. 45 in his first ever race at Indy.
Flying Lizard goes racing at 5:35pm tomorrow, Friday, July 25th. Live timing and scoring for the race and all practice sessions and qualifying can be found at www.imsa.com and on the IMSA mobile app. Qualifying will be broadcast live on IMSA.com and in the United States, the race will be televised live starting at 5:30pm ET on Fox Sports 1 and also on the Fox Sports Go mobile app. Outside of the United States, the full race broadcast will be available at www.imsa.com.
