TEAM RELEASE: Flying Lizard Brickyard Grand Prix Preview
July 21, 2014 – Indianapolis, Indiana
The next stop on the 2014 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship calendar is the world famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where the Flying Lizard Motorsports team will race in the Brickyard Grand Prix on Friday, July 25th. The schedule for the weekend is very compact due to the additional presence of the NASCAR Nationwide and Sprint Cup series, with two practices and qualifying on Thursday and warmup and the 2 hour, 45 minute race on Friday. While the NASCAR series will each run on the full, 2.5-mile oval, the TUDOR series teams will instead compete on the 2.44-mile Grand Prix road course, requiring the track configuration to be switched multiple times over the course of the race week.
None of the drivers in the GT Daytona class have ever competed on this iteration of the infield road course after having run a different course over the past few years of Grand-Am competition at this venue, so all four Flying Lizard drivers will need to hit the ground running to get up to speed during the abbreviated schedule. Dion von Moltke and Seth Neiman will again share the PR Newswire / UBM Tech / eSilicon No 35 Audi R8 LMS with Spencer Pumpelly and Nelson Canache Jr. in the Venezuela eSilicon No. 45 Audi R8 LMS.
Flying Lizard is on track at 10:45am and 1:45pm ET for Thursday practice with qualifying at 4:00pm. The race itself will start at 5:45pm on Friday. Live timing and scoring for the race and all practice sessions and qualifying can be found at www.imsa.com and on the IMSA mobile app. Qualifying will be broadcast live on IMSA.com and in the United States, the race will be televised live starting at 5:30pm ET on Fox Sports 1 and also on the Fox Sports Go mobile app. Outside of the United States, the full race broadcast will be available at www.imsa.com.
