TEAM RELEASE: Fall-Line Extends CTSC Points Lead in Canada
Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada (July 13, 2014) – Fall-Line Motorsports’ day at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park didn’t quite end as the GS team had hoped, but in the end, it was a positive one and ended on a high. Trent Hindman started second in his BMW M3 and he and co-driver John Edwards finished fourth. Shelby Blackstock returned behind the wheel of his machine with a new co-driver in Andrew Longe and the pair started and finished in seventeenth.
The #46 drivers started out brilliantly at a track that wasn’t conducive for much on-track passing. The Camaros seemed to have a competitive advantage over the field and Hindman settled in to fourth during his stint. Edwards got behind the wheel and held the lead after a great pit stop by the Fall-Line crew but lost it in his final stop because the fuel nozzle couldn’t fully engage due to the car’s position in the pit box. In the end, Edwards held on for fourth and this gave Hindman a six-point lead in the Championship standings.

Trent Hindman: “I think P4 was a good way to bounce back from the last two races which were pretty difficult for us. It was a little disappointing finishing where we did after we had the lead for a while but I think that was the true pace of the car. I don’t really think there was much more in it to stay ahead of the Camaros and the Mustangs. Overall all the Fall-Line guys did a fantastic job on pit lane and all throughout the weekend giving us a great car to really compete with all those other guys. I know we are really looking forward to Indy as historically we’ve had a strong car there in past years. Again, a big thanks to Trim-Tex, Cirocco & Ozzimo, Atlas Acon, DFL Interiors, and the National Kidney Foundation for all the support!”
John Edwards: “Well, it was a good points day but it was a little frustrating because nobody could pass. I only saw one pass and it was a Mustang passing a Mustang so it wasn’t too exciting. But, it was really on edge the whole race because the track was very low grip and greasy so it made it pretty tough. We lost a few spots in the pits because I was a little far from the wall and the fueler struggled to get the hose in so we lost a couple spots and probably a podium because of that. In the end it was still a good points day and we were ahead of all the cars we needed to be and extended our lead so Trent is back with a bit of a margin over the 13.”
Andrew Longe drove his first professional sportscar race today and though the results don’t necessarily show it, it was a small success. Longe had a steep learning curve this weekend stepping into a new car and a new track but welcomed the challenge. Shelby helped him to acclimate quickly and had Andrew not been the victim of an unavoidable incident involving a ST car, they would have finished much higher. But, this weekend was a learning experience for Longe and Indy is coming up next.

Shelby Blackstock: “Unfortunately it’s not how the #48 Fall-Line team wanted their day to go. Andrew had contact in the very beginning of the stint, which wasn’t his fault- an ST car hit him and knocked out the right rear tow so the car was hurt throughout most of the race. I’m not sure where we finished but it was further back. It’s unfortunate for the team but hopefully we can go to Indy and get a good finish. Thanks to everyone for all of their hard work and hopefully we can get a better result next time!”
Andrew Longe: “Unfortunately our race did not unfold as we had hoped today. In the early laps of the race we were the victim of an incident with a ST car that was out of our control. Shelby had a great stint in the car and we were able to get back on the lead lap despite the adversity we faced early on in the race. I am using this weekend as a learning experience and I know myself and the entire Fall-Line team are working very hard to build off of our progress this weekend so we can translate what we have learned here into a strong finish at Indianapolis.”
Michael Harvey, Fall-Line Motorsports Team Manager: “Not a bad day for the Fall-Line Motorsports BMWs. After a few tough events it was nice to run a clean trouble-free event and extend our points lead. All of our guys drove well and it was nice to see Andrew complete his first CTSC event although he did get assaulted by an ST car early. We now head off to Indy where we won last year.”
Next up is Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 24-25.
