The first race of the year here at COTA was pretty good. We had a bad start, the launch control didn’t really work properly so we lost a lot of positions on the start. I made some positions back in the first corner and during the first lap and then a bit in the second lap. Then we just stayed where we were. I could fight a little bit with the Cadillac, but I couldn’t pass him. At the end of the race he was a little bit quicker, so I don’t think we could have managed to stay in front. I’m really happy with this result, I mean I would have preferred a podium, but it’s a lot of points and it’s a long race. We should be starting in the Top-5 for the second race regarding the fastest lap so its ok, it’s pretty good and we will work from this race to improve the car for the second race.

It was a tough day at the office. We definitely had some hard racing from the other drivers and between that and a rough start by our cars. It was just trying to keep the nose clean. With the incident with the Bentley, we lost some front aero elements which really hindered the car for the race. It was a lot of maintenance driving, trying not to burn the tires off the car and bring it home so we can fix it and go for the podium tomorrow.

We are really proud of everybody on the team. It was a solid run. The thing that probably hurt us and the thing we have not done in the past is the standing starts, so we lost a little bit on the start but held strong and had good finishes. A P4 finish for Kevin was really good and Robert finished 19th with a little bit of damage. So now we are looking forward to tomorrow.

It was a good day. We weren’t really sure after qualifying what kind of pace we would have or what kind of pace others had. The first part of the race, we had a good pace. I think I was trying to hard initially trying to keep up with the Lamborghini and then I felt like once he cleared I could put a little bit of a gap between me and Olivier and at the end I just had no tires left. I think I worked it too hard earlier on and had a little too much under steer, I just killed the front tires. Track conditions are really tough. There were a lot more marbles there from the previous race. So overtaking made it pretty tough when you’ve got pick up on the tires. Unfortunately, one more lap less and we could have had the win, but ultimately it’s a good start for our campaign and credit to Effort Racing for as always giving me a good reliable car. Porsche off the line was incredible as always. We are starting third for tomorrow so hopefully we will have another good start. We are tuning the car up a little bit, new tires for sure will help because I think we used these tires too much in qualifying. On to tomorrow and good points for today.

Big thanks to my team Effort Racing and Porsche Motorsports North America, without their support and their awesome car, this wouldn’t have been possible. That car was really dialed in the whole race and tire management was awesome. I just had to run my lines and pick off people when I felt it was okay to do so. It was awesome communication between me and my engineer Stefan and my mechanic Ricky. I’d like to give a big thank you to the team, Porsche, and my sponsors Curb Records, Eibach Springs, Cometic Gasket. It’s just really emotional and cool to get the first win of the season on our debut. A big thanks to everyone
