Pirelli World Challenge: Round 11 & 12 Qualifying Quotes
Ryan Dalziel // #31 EFFORT Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R
Qualified P5 // Best time of 2:05.045 (-1.133)
Great to be back with EFFORT Racing. It was a good first qualifying, starting 5th. It’s pretty close from 4th to 10th positions, but we’re at the point in the field that we haven’t been at for a few races. I’m happy to be back up there. Great job by everybody at EFFORT to rebuild the 31 car after a pretty rough Detroit event. It’s great to be back at Road America. Hopefully we get a good start. The whole goal for the weekend is obviously to win races, but also get back on the podium after a couple of pretty rough speed runs for us. Hopefully we have a good, safe Race one and three races and bring the car home.
Michael Lewis (R) // #41 EFFORT Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R
Qualified P9 // Best time of 2:05.399 (-1.487)
Qualifying in Road America was okay. We’d like to be higher up, for sure. The performance of our Porsche 911 was good, in reference to the competition. IT’s really close out there. Thank you to my engineer Stefan for letting me go out there and try one more lap to move further up the grid. On my first few laps before I pitted for pressure adjustments, I left a little bit on the table. So I went back out there and it was really helpful because I improved my time and got a few more positions. We’ll go out there and get some points. It’d be good to not hit anything, and just follow my teammate Ryan Dalziel who will be a row or so up. We’ll do and EFFORT 1-2 train to the front. The car is good, and it’s going to be some great racing to the front.
Kevin Estre // #9 K-PAX Racing with Flying Lizard Motorsports McLaren 650S GT3
Qualified P11 // Best time of 2:05.713 (-1.801)
It was quite a disappointing qualifying session. I had a good lap. I thought maybe one or two tenths could have been better, but we’re almost two seconds off the pace. I can’t say too much about it. There are a lot of straight line spots here at Road America, and we’re way too low on power to match the speed from the other guys. We’ll see during the race. We need a good start and great battles. I hope to get as much points as I can, and we’ll see how tomorrow goes as well.
Robert Thorne // #6 K-PAX Racing with Flying Lizard Motorsports McLaren 650S GT3
Qualified P15 // Best time of 2:06.257 (-2.345)
It seemed like we had things figured out this morning. Both cars were on for the latest round of qualifying and everything felt put together. I had a nice, quick lap and not much traffic. The K-PAX Racing with Flying Lizard Motorsport McLarens felt pretty spot-on. Unfortunately, we’ll be starting a little further back than we would have liked. We’ve got a long way to go in the race, but it’s a long race. We’ll see how we do and see if we can find that magic straight line speed that some of these other cars have found.
