Bettenhausen Heads West for Next SRO America TCA Rounds at Sonoma Raceway
SONOMA, Calif., (June 4, 2019) — Five weeks have passed since the most recent round of the TC America championship at VIRginia International Raceway, and this weekend the action resumes in California at Sonoma Raceway. Ben Bettenhausen will be one of forty cars in the TC America field, racing his Subaru BRZ tS with TechSport Racing in the TCA class.
“I’m very much looking forward to racing at Sonoma Raceway,” said Bettenhausen. “I’ve spent a lot of time on the simulator getting familiar with the track, and I’ll take part in the series test day with the BRZ to apply all that I’ve learned in the real life. After two difficult opening rounds to the season, my goal is to improve every session and finish well.”
Bettenhausen’s debut SRO America season got off to a difficult start, with two mechanical issues ending his races early at VIRginia International Raceway. In a highly competitive field of 40 cars, Bettenhausen remains focused on his own performance for the pair of 40 minute sprint races on Saturday and Sunday. Situated in the rolling hills of Sonoma, California, the permanent road course of Sonoma Raceway holds 12 turns in its 2.52 mile circuit.
With a test day on Thursday, June 6, followed by two practice sessions on Friday, June 7, Bettenhausen and the rest of the TCA/TCR competitors will receive ample track time to get familiar with the facility and find the optimal set up for race day.
Race one of the weekend will begin at 4:30PM Pacific on Saturday, June 8, and race two commences Sunday, June 9 at 1:45PM. Both races will stream live on www.tcamerica.us.
